The country is at high terror alert, and the leader is sunning himself in the Caribbean. Nice. Mind, I wouldn't want to get on a plane and shoot back either. I was thinking wicked thoughts about the Government last night. All this terror alert - what evidence do we have that it took place at all? The only information has come from the security services and police. I'm not saying that the security services shouldn't react in this way to a perceived threat, but when the Home Secretary says on the same day that the publics freedoms may need to be limited to combat this sort of threat, I'm suspicious. Do we think that the case for ID cards will be pushed in the next few days? Frighten the population into accepting the whole idea of ID cards? I love a good conspiracy.
Another thing that didn't quite add up (thanks to Charles for this one) is that the airport security staff were confiscating liquids off passengers, and disposing of it all in containers. Now we are being told that the terrorists were planning on combining chemicals to create explosions - exactly what was happening in airports across the land! Mentos and Diet Coke anyone?
