DOCTOR WHO #10 Engaged to Fifth DOCTOR's Daughter
Via Hello! Magazine: David Tennant, who played the tenth Doctor Who,
"... is reportedly engaged to Georgia Moffett – the actress daughter of fifth Time Lord Peter Davison."
"David and 26-year-old Georgia are apparently planning to wed on New Year's Day 2012.
"The couple have been dating for two-and-a-half years, after meeting on the set of Doctor Who in 2008.
"Georgia appeared in an episode, playing the Doctor's daughter Jenny (pictured above)."

It's "Doctor Who Day!" On this day, November 23, 1963, the first DOCTOR WHO episode aired on BBC1. Above: a rare color still of William Hartnell, the first Doctor. The series is now up to its eleventh Doctor and going stronger than ever.

Tardis Materializes at MIT
Via the Doctor Who News Page:
The TARDIS has materialised on top of Little Dome at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
The appearance of the Time machine on the roof of the University located in Cambridge, Massachusetts is a "hack" or a practical joke. The University has a long history of "hacks" including placing a Dark Mark over the Student Center to celebrate the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and placing a Fire Department truck on the roof of the Great Dome.

Sarah Jane and Jo Grant
There is big news in the WHOniverse -- the DOCTOR WHO universe.
The new series (the second with Matt Smith) has been green lighted for next year.
There WILL be a new TORCHWOOD series (darker and "more American").
And, over at the SARAH JANE ADVENTURES series, two 1970s WHO companions will team up for the first time: Sarah Jane and Jo Grant. This is very big news if you are of a certain age (i.e., if you grew up watching the show at that time).

Cartoonist Tim Buckley on "Americanized" DOCTOR WHO
There are rumors that DOCTOR WHO will be transferred overseas and redone as a US TV series. Bringing UK shows over to the US and retooling them for American audiences in nothing new, and there have been some commercial and critical successes (ALL IN THE FAMILY, SANFORD AND SON, THREE'S COMPANY) -- but also a good share of downright, absolute failures. (I'm thinking of the 3 bad remakes of FAWLTY TOWERS -- with Harvey Korman, Bea Arthur and John Larroquette -- there are others, many others.)
Anyway, so DOCTOR WHO -- which can be seen on BBC America -- is quintessentially British and I cannot imagine how or why a US version would be better.
Tim Buckley's cartoon take on a US version is, sadly (and funnily) spot on.

Sir Terry Pratchett, guest-editing SFX Magazine, talks about why he cannot hate DOCTOR WHO.
"... I will watch again next week because it is pure professionally-written entertainment, even if it helps sometimes if you leave your brain on a hook by the door. It’s funny, light-hearted, knows when to use pathos and capable of wonderful moments .... And I remember too, “The Empty Child” – I never once hid from the Daleks but the Empty Child was almost a back of the sofa moment."
