Stondon Car Museum

Went to Stondon Car Museum
(& Garden Center - don't ask) and enjoyed the visit. Some nice cars there, not all in tip top condition - but there was quite a variety. There was even an Army Helicopter! Also, was this, a Mk1 Vauxahall Cavalier. Not a special car - but the first time I've ever been to a Car Museum and seen a car that I've actually driven. It was even in the same burnt orange metallic colour as the one my Dad had when I first past my test for the first time. A very special car, that somehow got me and my brother to the chinese takeaway with the handbrake on! Well I had just past my test (first time!). Maybe the examiner was a little hasty! Now when you go to car museums and see a car that you used to drive, that makes you feel old.

Navy Seals

Back to the Cartoons now. This one is quite fresh (ink is dry).
I have a book full of sketches, but I don't think they will scan very well - as they are in Pencil. Inky fingers over the next few days me thinks!
Thanks for all the comments, keep 'em coming :-)

Sparklemotion

This Blog has just been reviewed by Sparklemotion! They make some good points about some of the layout issues with the Blog, but I'm guessing they were using Firefox to review the Blog, as the mention the sidebar - which I know isn't working as it should. Feel good about the review. It's all been constructive. Have made a few changes, the banner, and some terrible spelling mistakes (my teachers would be ashamed of me). But hey! (I know I know!) I'm a Cartoonist, not some literary superstar, like JK (Rowling) or Catherine Cookson. It's good that someone else has given me feedback on the Blog. If only I could get my head around this HTML, and get Firefox AND Internet Explorer to play nicely together!
Oh, and I am going to try and sort out the time warp thing. It all started with just the next day, but then I had plans and thought I'd be clever and pre publish days ahead. Looks like I was wrong.
(((UPDATE)))
I think I've got the Blog looking OK in Firefox & Internet Explorer. I'm not sure what I did - but I fiddled around with the HTML and now it's looking ok. A casualty of all this change has been the search function, but I dare say this will return soon. In the meantime you can see all the previous posts from the archives. For new visitors I recommend this post: sofaman

Job Centre

I have been drawing Cartoons for many years. I once told the job centre that I was a Cartoonist! Well it was their fault - they did ask me what my profession was! Due to lack of profession I only had one answer to a question like that. Hopefully one day I will be able to say that my profession IS Cartoonist - but hopefully not at a Job Centre. Feel free to offer suggestions for Cartoons. I will change your ideas into a Cartoon of sorts. It may not be what you imagined - but I would like to get to know you lot, and what you'd like to see. Click on comments or email me. Why do I have so many visitors from Austria? Have I got an Austrian sense of humour? Please get in touch and tell me what you like, or what you don't like.

Internet Explorer - you've won!

Nothing drawn this time. Seems I have become obsessed with the stats for this Blog. Which shows that 88% of you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer to view the Blog. Also noticed, was the similar percentage for visitors that don't even take their coats off, and walk straight through the house. So I have had to change the template to suit the majority. Adsense has had sense, and will not be sharing the journey with us for a while.
Cartoons will be the next post. Hope you like the new template, and it works for your lovely IE. For Firefox users it's going to look like a dogs dinner for a while.
I won't miss the 30p from Adsense. Rant Over. So what else can I do that will convince you to stay? Apparently you can have a direct live feed to this site from here.
At least this template lends itself better to long strip cartoons - of which more we be added soon.

World Cup

There is no avoiding the World Cup, here in Blighty right now. Every other TV trailer, or advert has something to do with it. Buy a can of pop - and there's a chance to win tickets, or T-Shirts or something that has a link to the World Cup. World Cup fever has afflicted England badly. Everyone who supports it, thinks that England can win. Cars have flags sticking out of every window. Beer is being drunk, except it's mostly German Lager that is drunk! Regular TV shows are being push around to accommodate the wonderful game. Lager Lager Lager. I don't like football at all.

Cold Call

Sonia From East Enders

I don't normally have hatred for tv character's, but the characters of Sonia in East Enders really annoys me. Lets see now. She was seeing Jamie, had a baby by Martin, Martin killed Jamie with a text message, Sonia then hooked up with Martin and they discover who adopted the baby. Then she decides that Martin isn't for her, and moves in with Naomi. Now she wants to get back with Martin. Sonia is the stereotype miserable EastEnder.

White Wood Sunday School

Got to mention this. Hedgehogman said nice things about my Blog, so I'm returning the favour!
White Wood Sunday School

Not sure what it's about, but it does look worthy. Unique is used a little too often for an about me section, but it all seems so worthwhile. Consider yourself added to the BlogRoll.

Lordy!

Of course this is just a silly cartoon. It could never happen, right?
Broken my 1 per day rule here, as I realise in a few days the Eurovision will be completly forgotten!

Clue No Clue

Love Cats

Here's a departure from the usual Cartoons that appear on this Blog. This was done a few years ago, when our cat Poppet made friends with Ollie. Enjoy the Video. You need to have the sound on to really appriciate the Video.

Shoes

Another experiment in style here. The basic drawing was done on paper, in ink. The shading was done in Photoshop - and I'm quite please with the results. Has a sixties feel to it, which is what I wanted. Think Yellow Submarine.
Photoshop is so useful, once I get my head around it. Let me know what you think. Should I do more drawings in this style?

Puppets

Pelham Puppets were brilliant. I had one around 1980, when I went to London for the first time. Sadly they stopped making them around 1990. The string Puppets you can buy today are nothing like as good as Pelham Puppets. You can follow the link to read all about Pelham Puppets and collecting them.

SketchBook Doodles

Here's a quick scan from my current sketch book. Working on some caricatures - you'll know who you are! Thanks to all the visitors to this site. You keep visiting, and I'll keep drawing.

Attack of the Proto-Bugs Creature!

Following a John K's request, here you have some screenshots from a rarely seen proto-Bugs Bunny cammeo from Clampett's "Patient Porky" ( 1940).
Enjoy!

PIDNK 2

Here's another People I Do Not Know (PIDNK). This is from my current sketch book. Let me know if any of these look familiar. I need to be able to do Caricatures, so it would be a big help if I could find these people :-)

Thanks !

In a man' life, it comes the day when you have to thank someone.
And it's today!
I want to give a special thanks to my friend Jerry Beck, one of the greatest animation historians ever been...Without him this blog simply would not be the same.

I also want to thank John K, another one of my heroes. He frequently linked to my blog and he spent nice words about me and my work.

Then, I want to thank you all the frequent (and the occasional) readers of this blog.
I hope you'll like my posts as well as mmm...donut's.

Vauxhall Chavette

Chavs. They're great for pointing the humour stick at. It's what they do to their cars that amuses me the most. £3k stereo and no MOT. Working on a strip idea for this subject. Who knows...

Lie to buy...

Yet another dig at the noble art of Estate Agency. If there's any Estate Agents out there, that find these drawings offensive - great!
Thanks to RAVE from the house price crash forum for the caption.

Hemel Explosion

Hardly topical now, but it was when I created this spoof BBC news report. Sent it to www.boreme.com - but they didn't reply. Hey, now I have my own Blog - I can self publish, funny or not and be damned! If you're French, I'm sorry. French bashing seems to be very popular on the internet at the moment.

The Highwayman

This isn't really a Cartoon. More of an illustration. I can't draw horses, so I drew a donkey and heavily tweaked it in Photoshop to make it look respectable. Inspired by the Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson song; The Highwayman.

Did You Miss Me?- "Garden Gopher"

WARNING: RACIAL STEREOTYPES INCLUDED!

This funny Tex Avery cartoon was released with this cut even on the excellent "The Compleat Tex Avery" laserdisc boxed set.
Here you can see this gag as originally intended.

We start with Spike trying to get rid of the gopher.....

In many print, after the explosion, we cannot see the effect of the explosion on Spike.
Here you have what you were not allowed to see...one of the most outrageous black face gags in cartoon history....
